Review of Everything Must Go
I am currently in a Theology and FIlm class and one of our assignments was to go to a movie and then post a review online.  So here it is! A Review of the Film Everything Must Go Everything Must Go is a film starring Will Ferrell and written and directed by first-time director Dan Rush about a man named Nick Halsey who is shown in the opening of the film experiencing the worst day of his life....

The internet has jumped the shark (IMO)
First off, if there is such a person who actually monitors the content on this site and reads my silly little thoughts, I apologize for going 3+ months between posts.  There have only been one or two occasions in that span where I even thought about posting some thoughts or linking to content that I thought worthy of checking out, but my laziness got the best of me. Second (but related to the...

The Abolition of Man
I have read several of C.S. Lewis’ books through the years but for some reason never got around to reading The Abolition of Man until recently.  It is a fantastic little book (less than a 100 pages), and is prophetic in many ways as it tackles the subjects of subjectivism, ethics, and the myth of scientific progress.  I highly recommend the book if you are looking for a challenge.  It roused...

Time for a Dodgers post
(Let me preface these thoughts by saying I am not an Angel fan.  I understand that at one point in time Garret Anderson was a star in the game of baseball, but that was for another team and at another time, and I have no sentimentality reserved for him or his former accomplishments.) I read this today from Evan Drelich, Doyer beat-writer for MLB.com, and it made me chuckle.  The quote comes from...

I did what any blogger who barely posts to his blog should do- I started a second blog.   My So Called Neighborhood is my attempt to do something meaningful with my almost-weekly walk to and from work (and other miscellaneous jaunts through the ‘hood). Check it out.

– Joe Torre (speaking of James Loney) It would seem Torre is not one for compliments or encouraging his players.  First it was this gem in which Torre almost threw his back out trying to pick an opening day starter and now Torre reveals his true feelings about James Loney (who is the second best...

Thought from class
I am sitting in class right now and the professor just offered a thought he attributed to Leonard Sweet- “There is only one way to God but there are many ways to Jesus.” If that is true (which I think it is), then why do most Christian ministries tend to normalize encounters with Jesus?  Why do churches seek to standardize access to Jesus through clearly defined methodologies and...

“We just had to pick somebody, and he was the one.”
– Joe Torre, on his selection of Vicente Padilla as the opening day starter for the Dodgers this season.  How’s that for confidence?   Let me paraphrase: “We don’t have any guy who earned the job.  If I could get away with not naming a starter, I would, but the rules of the game say...

Really The Office?  You come back from over a month long hiatus with a clip-show?  Bad form.  You haven’t been funny the last two seasons but at least up until now you were trying.  Now you have just given up.

Attack of the Dishes
I was walking through an alley near our apartment and off the back of an apartment complex that as far as I can tell has maybe 12-15 units, I found the satellite dishes above.  There are seven of them here on this corner of the building and another 5 or so on the other corner.  So there is nearly one dish for each unit in the building. Now besides being an eye sore and resembling something out...

My delayed New Year's resolution
Mariah and I spent a few minutes looking through my old blog last night and it hit me that I used to be a lot better at this, or at least had a bit more energy for this when I first started.  There were actually some original thoughts rather than a bunch of posts saying “hey check out this link” (although there was still plenty of that before). So my delayed NYR is to be a better...
